Swachh Bharat or Clean India Mission is a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India in 2014. ICAR-Indian Institute of Farming Systems Research observes swachhata pakhwada every year and organizes outdoor swachhata campaigns to motivate people. The institute also conducts various events like swachhata awareness among school children, farmers, farm women and village youth, organizes different competitions on swachhata, carries plantation of saplings and campus cleaning activities on regular basis. Composting of biodegradable waste, cleaning of water pipelines, adoption of e-office for lessening paper burdens and mass media coverage of the campaigns are continuous activities of swachh Bharat Mission of ICAR-IIFSR. Swachhata banners are placed at prominent places including entrance gate for public awareness. Swachhata pledge is being taken by the staff. Removal of waste from campus, sanitization of office premises, cleaning of animal shed areas, water storage bodies and internal roads are regularly conducted. Signboards depicting “No plastic Zone” are displayed inside campus and related polythene free drives are undertaken.
